Humans are not only the ones who will have problems in times of moving. We know that many individuals as they move had problems concerning with their children’s new environment but there are certain precautions made in order for them to accept that things change in life and it is a natural thing that needed to be accepted. These problems will not only be faced by humans but also by our pet animals who have already adapted in that certain environment. Measures are needed to be undertaken in order to have a smooth move with your pet animals especially with dogs. There are few things one should remember before, during and after the move so that it will not cause problems to your dogs, to the movers and to the other individuals around you.
These are the following things that needed to be done before moving with your dog. First, start packing with a lengthy time without an added pressure to it so that the dog won’t be shocked with the sudden change of the environment. Do not pack your things in a rush or within couple of days away before the moving time. It is best recommended to start packing at least a week away before the moving.
Remember, it is not good for dogs to be shocked by the sudden change of the environment for it might cause an abnormal behavior of the dog that might lay danger to itself or to the people surrounding it. Second, as you will avoid changing the environment of the dog; do not change your everyday routine with it like the schedule of its regular walks with you and its feeding time. Third, it is the best way to make the dog’s adaptability process to hasten. The owner should bring the dog to the place where they will be moving so it can explore new sights, sounds and smells, In this case, a sudden change if where it will live in the future will not be a difficult thing for the dog. Fourth, if at certain circumstances, the dog still gets scared and anxious, it is best to prepare a new id tag that the dog will wear on the day of the move so that if he’ll run away or get lost, it will be easy to find your pet.
Next are the things that needed to be accomplished during the moving. First, try to make sure that the dog will not be disturbed by the appearance of the moving men in your house. Make the dog busy with other things like playing with your kids or playing with its favorite toys. Second is during the transportation process. It is best not to put the dog in the back of the truck because of certain conditions or accidents that are unavoidable and bound to happen. If you are travelling far, do not feed the dog at least 3 hours before the trip and make stops in order for it to get some fresh air and avoid suffocation in the process. If you are traveling by air, take into consideration that no airline can guarantee acceptance of an animal. Make sure you’ve got all the necessary documentations, proper carrier markings and sizing, and food and drink for the flight. Entering other states or countries will require a lot of tests for the dogs so it may become a hassle.
And lastly are the steps or tips after the moving process of your pets specifically of dogs. First, make the dog busy and make sure that is occupied with other things so it will not cause any problems when the movers unload your things. Second, make the sure that everything the dog has is still the same and do not interrupt with the dog’s daily routine. Third, Get the dog adapt as slowly as possible so that it won’t get scared and anxious because of shock of the sudden change. Gradually let the dog adapt before letting it out to the street. And, lastly, be human – don’t punish your pet for initial misbehavior, find some way to reduce their stress.
Actually, these tips could also be advised for other pets like cats, rabbits and etc. but I only specific dogs because it is the common pets at home.
